Meta Develops Advanced AI Model to Combat OpenAI

News – Meta Platform is working on a new artificial intelligence or AI system that will be trained to become the most advanced AI model to fight OpenAI.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, this AI model is ready to train in 2024, and is claimed to be several times more powerful than the commercial version dubbed Llama 2.

For your information, Llama 2 is an open-source Meta AI language model launched in July 2023, and distributed by Microsoft’s Azure cloud service to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard.

The company said in a blog post that its SeamlessM4T model can support translation between text and speech in nearly 100 languages, as well as full speech-to-speech translation for 35 languages. These AI models can also incorporate technologies that were previously only available in separate models.

Not only Meta, Bloomberg wrote that in July that Apple was working on an AI offering similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. Apple built its own framework, known as Ajax, to build large language models and also test chatbots that some engineers call Apple GPT.
